What German courses does die deutSCHule offer?
We offer intensive courses for levels A1 to C1 , both face-to-face and online. In addition, you will find special courses for grammar and writing, conversation as well as targeted preparation courses for telc and TestDaF.
What is an intensive course – and what are the times?
An intensive course consists of 16 teaching units per week (Tuesday to Friday, 3 hours or 4 teaching units "UE" daily). You can choose between course times in the morning, afternoon or evening. More information here in our course schedule.
How long does a course last per level (A1–C1)?
A1, A2 and B1 each last 8 weeks; B2 and C1 each 12 weeks. More information here in our course schedule.
Are there evening courses or weekend courses?
Yes, evening classes are part of our program (5:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.). We do not currently offer weekend courses.
Are there conversation courses or writing courses?
Yes. You can book these special courses in addition to an intensive course or individually: Speech training ("Blue Monday") and Conversation (">Format D:").
What is the "Blue Monday" course?
Blue Monday is our additional course day on Monday with changing topics to deepen grammar, vocabulary or exam preparation. Information here.
How many participants are in a course?
Between 8 and a maximum of 18 people in the intensive courses.
Are there free trial lessons?
Yes, for all intensive courses from A2 onwards. Just come to our office at least 30 minutes before the start of the course.
Can I take the exam directly after a course?
Yes, if you register in time. You can find all information about exam dates here.
What is the difference between face-to-face and online courses?
In terms of content, both formats are identical. Online lessons will take place live via video conference.
Do I have to prove previous knowledge?
No. However, we recommend our free placement test to realistically assess your language level.
Is there an age recommendation or age limit?
Our courses are aimed at adults. Young people aged 16 and over may be able to participate after consultation.
How can I register for a course?
You can register online via our booking form, via online shop or directly at the office.
Do I have to be classified in advance?
No, you don't have to. If you don't start at A1, we recommend our free placement test.
How do I pay for my course?
You can pay in our online shop, by bank transfer or on-site by card.
Are there discounts for longer bookings?
Yes, if you book several course modules, the weekly price will be reduced. You can find all the information on our price list. We also offer special discounts from time to time, just check our Instagram account regularly.
Can I postpone or cancel my course after booking?
In this case, please contact the office directly. You can find the conditions in the terms and conditions of your contract.
Is there a waiting list for fully booked courses?
Yes. You can make a reservation and be notified as soon as a place becomes available.
What documents will I receive to confirm the course?
You will receive a booking confirmation and, if you wish, a certificate of participation after you have completed the course.
Can I take part in an intensive course with an education voucher or AVGS?
No, we do not offer intensive courses on these support programmes, but you can finance our DaF teacher certificate with an education voucher.
Are BAMF integration courses offered?
No, we do not offer BAMF courses.
Can I take exams without a previous course?
Yes, you can register for the telc or TestDaF exam and the German certificate independently of a course.
Do I have to register separately for exams?
Yes. Registration takes place directly at our office.
How do I reach the German school office?

Yes. The exams are internationally recognized and telc and TestDaF are approved for university admission in Germany.
What is the German as a Foreign Language Teacher Certificate of the German School?
The DaF Teacher Certificate is a six-week qualification programme for prospective German teachers with equivalent theoretical and practical components.
How does the practical training work?
You will sit in on various courses, design your own lesson plans, take over your own teaching samples under professional guidance and receive regular feedback.
What requirements do I have to meet?
You should have study experience (ideally language or education-related), very good German language skills and a high motivation to learn.
Can career changers also participate in the DaF teacher certificate?
Yes, absolutely. If you are professionally suitable, have a high degree of motivation and pedagogical interest, you can apply to participate here.
How do I apply to participate in the DaF Teacher Certificate?

Is there a final exam?
Yes. The qualification programme ends with a practical teaching demonstration and written reflection in the form of an exam.
Will I receive an official certificate?
Yes. Upon successful completion, you will receive a corresponding certificate, which is also internationally recognized due to the certification by DEKRA Certification GmbH.
Is the certificate externally recognized?
Yes. It is a DEKRA-certified qualification that is recognized externally and also promoted by the Employment Agency.
Is there a job perspective after the certificate?
Yes. Many successful graduates go on to teach for us or other established educational institutions in Germany and abroad.
Is the program eligible for funding through the Jobcenter?
Yes. Both the German school and the measure for the DaF teacher certificate (according to §§81 et seq. SGB III) are certified by DEKRA Certification GmbH (Reg. No. 31T0317012/2) in accordance with the Accreditation and Admission Ordinance for Employment Promotion (AZAV) and approved by the Operational Service of the Employment Agency. The measure number is 922 222 2023.
Is there Wi-Fi or lounges?
Yes. Wi-Fi is available free of charge at the deutSCHule. In addition, our sun terrace and gallery offer space and space for relaxation.
Is there a school-owned café?
Yes. Our in-house art gallery "Galerie Neukölln" offers drinks, lunch, snacks and space for exchange and relaxation in its canteen.
What rules apply in class?
Mobile phones are to be switched off in class, food and drink please only in the break rooms. Punctuality and respectful interaction are a matter of course.
Is there childcare during the courses?
No, we do not offer childcare.
Is the school barrier-free?
Partly. Unfortunately, due to the historic premises, we cannot offer easy access for wheelchair users. Please contact us in advance so that we can find individual solutions.
Does the German school provide support in the search for accommodation?
No. We do not arrange accommodation, but we are happy to give you helpful tips on finding accommodation.
Are there leisure activities or excursions?
Yes. We regularly organize cultural events, art events, parties, pub nights and social activities.
Do you also offer German courses for companies or small groups?
